Hugh Lewis is the Head of the Astronautics Research Group at the University of Southampton, UK, and has been working in the fields of space debris and space sustainability for more than 20 years. He is a member of the UK Space Agency delegation to the Inter-Agency Space Debris Coordination Committee and chair of Working Group 2 (Modelling). He has previously supported the work of the UK in the UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space and is currently a member of the Royal Astronomical Society’s sub-group assessing the impacts of satellite megaconstellations on optical astronomy.
